In this course we will experiment with the hypothesis that our movements, postures, and spatial habits are major influences on our feelings. By learning to begin with subtle exercise and imaginations, instead of entrenched feelings, we can slowly ease into a “good space” again. Whether you are challenged with depression yourself, know someone who is struggling, or are a professional caregiver, this course is designed to help you create space to shed new light on the olde blues.

We have packaged this pair of advanced, intensive modules in twin courses in such a way that you can go through all the Bothmer exercises in the first session, go home and practice for a couple of months, and then come back in the second session to deepen your ability and understanding.
In Part II, we will add the finishing touches. If you choose, you can take a shot at the certification exam.

Open to SDI students and graduates, we will expose the illusions that are sold to us through models and manufacturers of perfected illusion. We will learn exercises and create spaces for ourselves to move from images that confine, towards the freedom that can come when we learn to enliven the bodies that we have.

In the early 1980s, Thom Schaefer and Jaimen McMillan co-developed PACT, a pentathlon model for 5th-grade school children, that has been incorporated into the curricula of Waldorf, public, and private school settings. Thom and Jaimen have teamed up, together with Spacial Dynamics instructors from around the world, and have applied this model in international peace projects in Greece, the Middle East, Ecuador, China and the US. This PACT model (Pentathlon, Arts, Communication, and Truce) uses movement, art, and non-violent communication to go beyond flags, break down stereotypes, and build up connections based upon movements that are true.
