The Spacial Dynamics Level I Program trains students in the discipline of Spacial Dynamics®. For nearly 40 years this training has benefited adults in their personal and professional lives across a multitude of careers: business executives, teachers, therapists, artists, athletes, community leaders, consultants, parents, and grandparents.

Among the requirements that are essential for anyone wishing to enroll in the program are:

  • A desire to move, and to move on. To take the next step.

  • The desire and ability to implement and follow through on an individual study program, which will include practicing and developing skills, carrying out creative projects, reading, and inner researching

  • An interest and openness to actively explore, in thought and movement, ideals of the multi-dimensional human being.

It is not necessary to be a strong athlete to join the program. Former and present trainees vary widely in their experience, abilities, and ages ranging from 20 to 80. They are united in their desire to pursue a study of spatially oriented movement. Each person is encouraged to enter into each activity to the extent that they wish to be challenged.

The Goals of the Level I Program

The goals of the training program are to develop:

  • The quality of each participant's own movement;

  • A sense for movement, and its effect on oneself and others;

  • An understanding of the anatomy of movement;

  • An understanding of the role of movement in the spatial development that takes place from child to adult;

  • The ability to teach and apply Spacial Dynamics principles in any given activity;

  • The capacity to recognize, understand, and work remedially with problems that stem from incomplete or interrupted physical-spatial coordination;

  • An enhanced power of presence in social situations, and for presenting, speaking, and working in leadership or public roles;

  • The ability to teach and apply Spacial Dynamics principles in any given activity, from individual exercises to team building for group dynamics.

Completion of a Level I Training Program does not qualify students to train others as teachers or therapists. Further training is necessary to become a certified Movement Therapist, or a Spacial Dynamics Trainer®.

Schedule

1. The Level I Course

This is an innovative program distilled and designed to complete the requirements for a Level I diploma in Spacial Dynamics within a 3-year period, instead of the previous 5-year model. The course will take place in Saratoga County, Mechanicville, NY, and is taught and directed by Jaimen McMillan, with the support of Katie Moran, and a talented group of multi-disciplinary instructors.

This training program centers around moving together in real life, in real time, in real inter-personal interaction. To be eligible to receive certification as a Spacial Dynamics practioner, it is vital that a student take all 12 sessions offered, nine of which must be with in-person attendance. In addition, there will be monthly ZOOM sessions in the periods when there are no on-site sessions. This year-round model allows for regular practice, correction, and introduction to new material on a regular basis, which students can access and study at their own pace.

The sessions will be videoed and available online for one month, to refresh one’s memory and deepen understanding and experience of the material. The recordings will also make it possible for those who were unable to attend a session, or a portion of a session, to view and re-view material that the student may have missed.

In the exceptional case where attendance requirements cannot be met, alternate arrangements can be explored to complete the course requirements towards certification.
