Our Body Image is a lens with which we perceive the world. We have been conditioned to focus on the negative, magnify perceived imperfections, and even turn this lens towards ourselves and burn virtual holes in our souls.
For children, youth, and adults, Body Image plays an important role in the development of self-identity, social interaction, and self-development. In this course we will explore how Body Images are formed and how they are exploited. We will see that distorted Body Images are at the root of many eating disorders and depressive conditions, and how they can negatively affect self-confdence, sexual health, and overall personal growth.
This Spacial Dynamics® Level II Course is designed especially for teachers, therapists, and concerned parents. We will learn exercises to create spaces for ourselves and others to break finished molds, which confine, and instead be “in-formed” by the processes of forming themselves. We will explore exercises, meditations, and activities to learn to choose, change, and consciously shape our own body images. We will wrestle with the enigmatic phrase from the Bible: “The human being is made in the image and likeness of God.” Come! Imagine that!’
The course will run from 9:00am to 6:00pm on March 30th, March 31st, and April 1st.
