Go ahead: Run away and join the circus. Whatever you can do, you can do more. Individual ability, meet teamwork! Juggling, acrobatics, silks, unicycling, diablo... you will be taught these arts in ways you can learn them. Circus skills are life-skills. Come join the circus! Jaimen McMiIlan, SDI’s Director, and a team of instructors will lead this unique course.

Come learn the disciplines of fencing, writing, and archery; where goal-orientedness, word- smithing and social interaction, pave the paths for sovereignty, inventiveness and independence. Jaimen McMillan, Master Fencing Instructor, and Katie Moran, Certified Archery Instructor will lead this well-rounded week. Successful completion of this course will give a SDI Certification to Teach Fencing in Waldorf Schools and USA Archery Certification.

If you are challenged by breathing difficulties yourself, or are a parent of a child who suffers from asthma, come learn how to team up with your doctor and movement therapist to plot a course towards leading a fuller life. If you are an educator looking for ways to help your students, or a therapist looking for new techniques for your patients, or just feel that you need a “second wind”, come learn how to move and create spaces you need to “catch your breath.”

Some can’t fall asleep. Some have trouble waking up. Some sleep fitfully and wake up more tired than when they went to bed. Insomnia, snoring, sleep apnea, restless leg syndrome, sleepwalking, bedwetting, and nightmares are just some of the topics we will cover in this course. Whether you are challenged by sleep disorders yourself or have children, loved ones, or clients who suffer from patterns of sleep disturbance, come join us as we use Spacial Dynamic movements, breathing, and quieting exercises to find ways of resting you never dreamed of.

Depression has a myriad of causes, its effects are the same: feeling stuck; the inability to move on; the feeling of being numb, even paralyzed. Attempts to motivate one’s self, or attempts by others to motivate the one who is depressed are often doomed to failure. But what if our feelings were not the actors, but the ones being acted upon?
Whether you are challenged with depression yourself, know someone who is struggling, or are a caregiver, this course will help you create space to shed new light on the olde blues.

In this course we will experiment with the hypothesis that our movements, postures, and spatial habits are major influences on our feelings. By learning to begin with subtle exercise and imaginations, instead of entrenched feelings, we can slowly ease into a “good space” again. Whether you are challenged with depression yourself, know someone who is struggling, or are a professional caregiver, this course is designed to help you create space to shed new light on the olde blues.
